What are Bi-fold doors?
Bi-fold doors are the relatively recent developed double glazed door that allows you to open up your room, orangery or conservatory to your garden, veranda, patio or decking. They are also known as bi-folding doors, folding sliding doors, glass sliding doors and sliding room dividers. At Parkside Windows, we like to refer to them as bi-fold doors as we think that best describes what they do. Instead of just opening like a standard door they slide and fold twice, a little like a concertina which means they stack against the wall neatly and out of the way whilst opening up the whole of a glazed panel of a room.

“Excellent service – the fitters were fantastic. They replaced my patio sliding doors. They worked non-stop from arriving to finishing – they didn’t even stop for dinner. They cleaned up after them – couldn’t do enough for the customer. I would 100% recommend this company. Thank you very much Parkside Windows.”
Tell us more about the options for bi-fold doors
As we have already mentioned, Parkside Windows provide bespoke design and manufacture of aluminium bi-fold doors. Bi-fold doors can be made from uPVC or aluminium. The benefits of aluminium are as follows:
- it is lightweight and malleable so can be used to make thin profiles maximising the light coming into your room
- adds elegance to your room
- it can be painted in a wide range of RAL colours to match the design of your home
- it is more versatile than uPVC
uPVC also affords a number of advantages;
- currently less expensive than aluminium, especially if you select white
- you can choose a different colour for each side of the window frame – for example, you could choose a classic white for outside with an oak effect inside
